Treatments at BOSH
Achilles Tendonitis
The Achilles tendon, the largest tendon in the human body, is used to walk, run, jump, or push up on the toes. Achilles tendonitis is the inflammation of this tendon for which treatment varies from resting, restricting motions, taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication to using orthotics or shoe inserts that help support the muscle and relieve stress on the tendon. Physical therapy that includes stretching, massage, ultrasound and strengthening exercises is recommended in case of acute pain.
Ankle Fracture
The treatment for an ankle fracture depends on the appearance of the ankle joint in the X-ray. In cases where there bones are not displaced, a splint is advised for recovery. In case of displacement of the bones, a “closed reduction” under some form of anaesthesia is performed where the bones are set in their place to improve position and reduce pain. Fractures that have caused bones to be badly displaced are surgically repositioned into their normal alignment and held together with special screws and metal plates attached to the outer surface of the bone. Restoring alignment of the broken bone is essential to full recovery without which ankle arthritis can set in.
Arthroscopic Ankle Surgeries
BOSH is proud to introduce one of the rare facility of conducting ankle related injuries arthroscopically. The limited indications for ankle arthroscopic surgeries point to the fact that they are rarely performed when compared to knee and shoulder surgeries. Our experts can fix the ankle ligaments, remove loose bodies, and address cartilage defects without having to open up the joint. This minimally invasive surgery also reduces the time for patients to get back on their feet.
