Joint Mobilisation Techniques (gentle gliding)
Joint mobilization techniques involve a variety of therapeutic exercises that help attain a normal range of pain-free joint motion. The treatment for improving mobility is determined based on the joint that needs attention. Joint mobility treatments include exercises, massage & soft tissue techniques, minimal energy techniques, traction/distraction techniques, and stretching.
Electrical Stimulation
Electrotherapy and local modalities are recommended to assist in pain reduction as well as, aiding natural healing response by applying an electrical current. These modalities are the preferred course of action for pain relief, functional improvements, and in cases involving neurological disorders. It has proved effective in facilitating functional facial movements in patients with Bell’s palsy. Electrotherapy modalities include ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), and Interferential Current Therapy (IFC). Local modalities typically involve providing cold or heat therapy in the affected regions.
Foot assessment & insole
Foot assessment refers to the approach that aims at identifying the foot type to provide therapeutic interventions to eliminate pain and discomfort in the foot. Physiotherapy combined with the use of orthotics, a device designed to improve biomechanical function, encourages proper joint alignment in the foot. The use of orthotics is most effective to treat conditions such as heel pain, knee pain, and sports-related problems.
Posture and Ergonomics
Pain that arises due to poor posture and improper body movements can be debilitating and can hamper the ability to perform daily activities. Issues like these can be rectified through a variety of therapeutic techniques like gait training, balance coordination training, postural training, and neuromuscular re-education performed with the assistance of a physiotherapist.
Therapeutic Exercise Prescription
Therapeutic exercise prescription involves prescribing specific movements that need to be done at the right time and in the right amount to achieve the desired outcome. This prescription is to correct impairments, restore muscular and skeletal function and/or maintain a state of well-being. In cases where the aim is to improve physical strength, passive, active, or resistive exercises may be advised. Cognitive disorders prescription can take the form of medication, psychological evaluation, intervention, or therapy for communication disorders.
